Tecnum

Gary De Donder (Tecnum) first came in touch with the techno scene when he was 15. He accidentally listened to a podcast by dj Umek at I Love Techno 2001. The energy and dynamics of techno drew him into the world of techno, parties and dj’s. Artists like Dave Clarke, Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer & Marco Carola were his masters.

In 2004 he started ‘Tecnum Electroz’: cool parties at P&B's Dendermonde with names such as Tom Dazing, Cyrix, Yves Bash, Psytox & E-Phonk and residents Delcone & Jared Bragha.

In 2006 he got himself a partner: fellow dj Mario LeBlanc ( www.vinyl.be ) The PLAYGROUND parties were born, thus far they’ve only gotten positive feedback. Parties where profits were inferior, a smile on everybody’s face at 7 in the morning was not. The PLAYGROUND parties led to the Citysounds Festival at Dendermonde in September 2007. Tecnum & Mario were given the chance to host the elektrotech-room and entertain up to 1400 people.

The great breakthrough in his young career came in june 2008 when Youngtalentcorner/Poppunt chose his demo out of 43 to warm up the crowd in Ultra Room on Kozzmozz. After that the definite conformation was a gig at 10 Days Off. He got selected as one of nine, out of 130 demo’s.

Today Tecnum is part of the entertainment sector of PrimePeople.be, sharing the spot with names as Alex Flatner, Soul Phonic, TomDazing & Kenny Raw. Tecnum relentlessly tries to promote electronic music.

Tecnum: “What is more beautiful than to hear a dj evolve from deephouse, to techhouse, going to minimal and arriving at techno in a set of merely two hours. Without the audience losing the thread.”
